This film received 200 oscar nominations and was the suprise hit of 1992. Based on the book "4 seasons" written by Stephen King, Morgan Freeman stars as "red" a black negro imprisoned for murder. Red has been in prison a long time when new prisoner Andy Dufrane arrives to Shawshank Prison after being wrongly accused for the murder of his wife and the golf pro she was shanking. Andy Dufrane soons learns about shawshank life, the shank bit being the most dominant. Dufrane was shanked left right and centre by most of the shawshank gay population and was from time to time able to be beaten up as well as being well and truly shanked.
Dufrane gets on very well with the warden after providing financial advice to the guards and then refurbishes the prison library.
The old librarian hangs himself. Dufrane escapes through a sewage pipe and gets to live is lifetime ambition of being a boat polisher.
